One More Chapter
A twenty two year-old's view on life, death,
and Taylor Swift conspiracy theories
and Taylor Swift conspiracy theories
To those who are good friends with me or my family, you know that I have this issue with technology. The mere fact that I am typing this entry on my computer successfully is a miracle. Now, I'm not incompetent when it comes to technology - in fact, most of the time I am the one called over to fix a problem someone is having with their computer. But that's computers. When it comes to things like iPhones, tablets, cars...yeah, I am pretty incompetent. But I have a reason for this, the excuse I use every time I break something expensive: I hate technology and technology hates me. I just wish that I lived in the 18th and 19th centuries. A time of women in corsets having tea and crumpets on a blanket outside at noon as in Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice and other Jane Austen novels. I want to go to balls and speak properly and be intriguing to the new neighbor for my cunning whit and unmatched ability to slay a zombie and - wait, that's not right...I'm thinking of Pride Prejudice and Zombies...Nevertheless, it was a time that I think I would have been happy in. Books were the center of discussion, not which celebrities were dating who and who had gained two ounces of weight. I mean, sure there were other problems during that time, don't get me wrong I understand this. And I am thankful for all the modern luxuries we have today like electricity, indoor plumbing, and television (who doesn't love television?)
I think that all the technology I come into contact with knows this about me, for it always seems to commit technological suicide and make me look bad. My car (as I mentioned in my previous post) had mysteriously - yet dramatically - given up on me and gone completely to crap. I now am about to purchase my third car since getting my license four years ago. My phone is never on or charged and it's a miracle if I am aware of it's whereabouts, which is why I have the cheapest possible phone we could find - no iPhone for me, no sirree. I am on my fourth computer since about sixth grade I think (an average of two years per computer). I got water under the screen of my new iPod touch within a month of getting it and the screen has had a black dot in the corner and an odd fog covering the screen ever since. I had to purchase that new iPod because the screen on my old iPod had begun falling out in pieces... So I think it's fair to say that no one should every buy me any expensive technology because it somehow knows my longing to live in the past and my resentment towards it. But to be fair I resent it more because it seems to hate me. Also, just a side note, it drives me crazy to see children getting crazy things like iPads, iPhones, iPods and other expensive technology that I can't even handle. I mean, Your daughter is three, she needs a barbie not a handheld computer! There, sorry, but I remember when I was a kid and I was thrilled to get a ball for Christmas...a ball. There wasn't even such a thing as a touch screen, that was for sci-fi movies...and I'm still a kid, so that wasn't very long ago. If anything, we need to go back to the good old days where kids could be happy over the simple joys in life and enjoyed being read to, coloring pictures, and playing outside. So on that happy note, I hope you have a good day haha :) And to all my New England friends: Enjoy your extended vacation!! ~Amanda Lucille

So many people have been asking me what I have been working on and filming and I'm here to explain it all once and for all so that when someone else asks I can simply reply "oh, just check out my blog - it will explain everything!" So here's the deal, I have this car - or rather, i had this car. It was a burgundy colored 2001 Hyundai Elantra and it was my first standard car. Recently, though, things have been going south with it. First, over the summer, third gear stopped working. It would literally just buck the stick shift out of third gear and make this horrible noise. So I just stopped using third gear (we brought it to the mechanic but it was a fix that would have costs us hundreds and hundreds of dollars. something about a belt, I don't know..) Things were going great....until they weren't. Things started going wrong left and right. The other gears began to give me trouble, a strange noise began to form as I drove, we had to pull the wires out of the door lights because they never turned off, I often couldn't shift into reverse, the driver's side door couldn't open from the inside and even more. It was a death trap. Then it got worse. For some reason, every single gear, except fourth (thank god for my precious fourth gear), made an extremely loud - like ear piercingly loud - screeching sound. It sounded almost like my car was spinning out on ice...all the time. It was the most embarrassing thing I've ever experienced. People turned and stared, gave me horrible looks and one time i attracted the attention of a cop in a parking lot. My car had truly given up on me, and I on her. So to commemorate this failed relationship I have begun my latest project. It is a music video for the song "Say Something" by A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera. But instead of me being sad because of a relationship with a man, it's my relationship with my car. Make sense yet? My goal is to be a cliche and dramatic as possible as sort of an ode to the over-the-top videos that come out with every sentimental/heartbreak songs. Including but not limited to: slow motion, staring out windows and gazing off into nothingness. Here is the preview that I posted on my Facebook wall so that people could see what I had been working on. It's just my two friends and the dancing aspect of the video, but it's a step in the right direction! So enjoy my little preview and I'll dedicate another post to the final product once it's finished in a few weeks. Thank you for stopping by!
Don't forget to leave a comment on how you like the video so far :) See you tomorrow and Happy New Years, Amanda Lucille |
About This Blog:I started this blog as a way to challenge myself to write more over the 2014 year, but it has blossomed into so much more than that.
