1/23/2014 1 Comment Dessert Island ChallengeI'm writing today's post while sitting in my friend Colleen's dorm room talking about food. So naturally I would love to write about it. I mean, who doesn't love talking about food. It's amazing. But let's make it a bit more interesting that that. So I have formulated some questions, rather difficult questions, that will exemplify my favorites of a few categories and hopefully give you some good suggestions. So...if I were stuck on a dessert island and could only have three of each category, what would they be (I would have said one, but it was impossible). 1. FOODOk, since this is what struck up this particular topic I will start by saying that I would have to bring: 1. Grilled Reubens - they are the greatest sandwhich on the face of the Earth. If you haven't tried one before, then drop what you are doing and find the nearest restaurant that sells them. But be prepared, your life will change. 2. Bananas and PB - This lethal combination is both nutritious and delicious - just don't overdose on the PB or the nutritious aspect will be slightly diminished. There's nothing like a banana and a spoon of PB to end the day right. :) 3. Baked Sweet Potatoes - These are my life. Nothing beat a sweet potato cut into 1 inch cubes, then tossed in a VERY small about of olive oil, seasoned with salt and pepper then baked at 400 degrees. It's sinfully delicious. 2. BOOKSThis one is a toughy. But I felt i needed to choose those which I wouldn't mind reading over and over again so I tried to chose ones across multiple genres. 1. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I know it's cliche, but we all need that sappy romance now and again, and this one just takes the cake. 2. The Hunger Games - Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I know most people hated the last one, but it was, by far, my favorite. A cliffhanger at the end of each chapter, impossible to put down, and emotional roller coaster through and through. Plus it's a great action/adventure book. 3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I love 19th century literature and this book is definitely my favorite. If you haven't read it yet, I definitely recommend you do so. It's not too hard to understand since it was written in the 1800's and, while it is surprisingly bleak, it is also a beautiful and timeless story. 3. MOVIEwhile this list will not at all define my favorites, it is a list of some good movies that are easy to watch time and time again. A lot of my favorites are just too sad or monotonous to watch more than once every few months to a year. 1. The Notebook - well, I bet you saw that one coming from a mile away. I just love this movie so so much, it's a classic chick flick and now on this strangely high-tech island I can read the book and watch the movie (which are very different by the way). 2. Lord Of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring - Well my geek is showing...but honestly the Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest trilogies out there. Amazing directing, amazing locations, amazing music...well, you get the picture. 3. The Office all nine seasons on DVD. While it's not a movie, I'm still counting it if I can get it on DVD because this show is pretty much by obsession. My sister and I can quote almost every episode beginning to end. Mainly because we would just let it run while we did our homework everyday after school for, like, years. Eventually we filtered through every episode at least three or four times - sometime more. I'm telling you, it becomes an addiction. 4. FRIENDShaha, yeah. I'm not telling you this. :) you'll just have to try and figure it out on my own. But I will tell you this: I would pick people that have the same movie/tv taste as me and those who I can easily keep a conversation with and have no awkward silences, only comfortable silences. Song of the DayStory of My Life by One Direction I loved it when it came out and I still love it now :D
