1/2/2017 1 Comment My 10 for 2017Since the birth of this blog in January of 2014, I have made a list of goals that I hope to accomplish by the end of the year. Most of the time I promptly forget about what I wrote in this list a few weeks after publishing it. I kind of prefer this, because when I go back to the post in December to see how many I've accomplished, it makes for a fun time of seeing how different I was 12 months prior and how I usually seem to meet most goals even without remembering them. Normally I do a list of goals the same length as the year the list is for (for instance, "My 14 for 2014" and "My 16 for 2016") but it's beginning to get out of hand...so here are my 10 for 2017: 1. Visit three countries I've never been to before 2. Learn to play a musical instrument 3. Buy a van I can live in 4. Do something I'm really proud of 5. Make some new friends (not that I don't like those I'm friends with now, but it's always good to make new ones) 6. Hike and hike and hike some more 7. Get back into reading again - read more than ten books this year 8. Find comfort in my own body 9. Focus on the positives in life and find happiness in the littlest things 10. Medidate regularly - I'm going to need it to stay sane during Trump's first year as president. A few things I did in 2016

I hope you accomplished many of your goals. I always asked my students to set goals each year, not just academic but life goals. If you accomplish any great, if you accomplish some, super, if you accomplish all, probably need a new list. My daughter lived in a bus for a years in the jungle of Costa Rica. My partner and I bought a camper van after crashing our SUV and little camping trailer in Oregon. We got a Winnebago Solis, no more trailers. Lago

About This Blog:I started this blog as a way to challenge myself to write more over the 2014 year, but it has blossomed into so much more than that. I use it to let people in on what's happening in my life, talk about things I find important and to spread the news about amazing people, places and art. Archives
